Mark 8:17 NKJV
“But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?”
Mark 8:17 NKJV
The disciples once again misunderstood what Jesus was trying to teach them.
The disciples were looking at themselves of what they have failed to do this time. But Jesus spoke about the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod.
He was telling the disciples not to get caught in pride, hypocrisy and self- righteousness.
A yeast is small but it can affect the entire dough. So is a little hypocrisy,
self-righteousness and pride can destroy our lives.
Another lesson we can learn from this verse is that we must not assume what God is speaking or when reading the word of God.
We must not change it to fit our wants and desires but to understand what He is saying.
Every word that God speaks is to change us and to build us stronger. He speaks so that we can live in all that He has bestowed upon us.
We must not allow the leaven of the Pharisees or the leaven of Herod to get into our lives.
We are children of the kingdom of God, citizens of heaven, we live by the law of His Spirit and His word.
Let us discern the word of God and let the Holy Spirit reveal to us what He is wanting to teach us.
