Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.

I John 2:8 NKJV

John is writing to remind everyone to live as Christ lived here on earth. Jesus did not just learn the word of God but He lived the Word of God.

The promises of God are fulfilled in Christ and through Christ Jesus our Lord. This is true in Him and these promises ought to be true in us too as a believer.

John gave many examples of living the word and not just saying the word of God.

If a man says he loves God and hates his brother is a liar and the truth is not in him. And he who says he abides in Him should also walk as Jesus walked.

This is so important for us to be mindful because words without action become a religion and religion kills the passion, the love and the desire for the movement of God.

When the light of God is shining, we must be diligent to continue to live in it and continue to walk in it.

When we don't fuel into the things before us, they will eventually die off. We need to cultivate a lifestyle of living out the promises of God.

The early church did not just attend the church.

Yes, they gathered together but they were also living their conviction out there in the world.

Let us keep walking as the light of Christ and keep building ourselves in Him so that we can shine Jesus into the world.
