Luke 3:8 NKJV
“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.”
Luke 3:8 NKJV
When John the Baptist was baptising people to turn away from sin, many came with genuine repentance to make their own life straight with God.
The religious people came not to repent but to tick their religious boxes.
They only want to have a form of godliness but there is no internal conversion of turning away from evil.
Many still profess to be a believer today or claim to be a follower of Jesus because they attend church or they come from a Christian background.
They have to be genuine to turn from the old life to the new one that Jesus has given.
To be a follower of Christ is to follow His ways, and His teachings, and that will be evident in our lives.
This is where our hearts become pages for the word of God to be written and our bodies to live it out.
Our conversion from the old life to the new life in Christ is a life with power.
That power needs to be evident in us. We have to believe that we are an agent of God to bring change in this world.
Those who repented were turning their faces towards God and setting a new course for their lives.
We too need to set our lives on course to follow Jesus and live out all that He has done for us.
