James 1:24 NKJV
for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
James 1:24 NKJV
James talked about people who hear the word, people who know their identity through the word of God but do not live by it.
Many believers believe who they are in Christ, and what they have received from the finished work of Christ yet they are swayed by their feelings and circumstances.
We can take time to meditate on the word of God, we can confess the word, preach and teach the word but if we don't live by it, we are walking away from our true identity.
God spoke to Joshua about making his life prosperous and successful.
How?
Through meditating on God's word and observing to do it accordingly.
It takes two of these ingredients for a successful and prosperous life in the kingdom of God.
We cannot just do one part.
We cannot just choose one and neglect the other because both areas, knowing and doing need to cooperate.
Knowledge without the application will become useless.
Application without knowledge will be a waste of time and resources.
The combination of both knowledge and application is very powerful.
God's word shows us who we really are. It helps us to know what we have and the power God has placed in us. Doing God's word helps us to live out our true identity and purpose in life.
God's way is simple, hear or see His word and live out His word. This is related to the greatest commandments Jesus gave, which is to love God and love others.
Let us live our lives in Christ by doing what God has called us to do.
Blessings
