1 Corinthians 4:1 AMP

So then, let us [who minister] be regarded as servants of Christ and stewards (trustees, administrators) of the mysteries of God [that He chooses to reveal]. 1 Corinthians 4:1 AMP

Paul was addressing the Corinthians to have honour and respect to all the ministers who bring the truth of God's word. Though this is something to do with Paul addressing the Corinthians yet there are powerful truths that will change the way we see ourselves in Christ. We are all called by God to be His ministers. We all have the same responsibilities as a disciple of Christ. The word servant here is "hyperetas" which describes a subordinate function as a free man. Not as a slave but a co-worker. The picture given is a rower in the boat rowing and Jesus as the captain. Jesus is the head over the church and we are His body. If we don't move and do what the head says, nothing is going to happen. The boat will not move and we are not going to reach our destinations. We are all called to be good stewards of the kingdom of God. This means that we are to be trustees and administrators of God's kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus taught His disciples to pray, giving them the vision of God's kingdom coming and His will being done here on earth according to that which is in heaven. God told Moses to build a tabernacle according to the pattern from heaven. And now Jesus has built His kingdom for all mankind here on earth and laid a foundation for us. So that all of us can now build our lives in Him and be the administrators of God's kingdom. We are called to be trustees of this kingdom that Jesus established for us. We also learn from this passage that we are an agent or an ambassador of God's revelation knowledge to the world. We are the display of God's kingdom, God's love, God's grace and so on to the world. We are the connection that God has set for the world to know Him. How we live our lives matters for His kingdom. That why Paul says it's no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. In other words, Paul is saying I cannot display what I want to but I will display Christ to the world. In Christ, we are trustees and administrators of His kingdom. Let us take our place and follow Christ. Blessings
