Proverbs 13:18 NKJV
“Poverty and shame will come to him who disdains correction, But he who regards a rebuke will be honored.”
Proverbs 13:18 NKJV
Disdain means to judge someone not worthy to give correction, advice or counsel for anything.
Disdain also means that the person is acting in pride or false humility, being scornful towards someone who wants to help them.
There are many who want help yet they don’t want to change, therefore they disdain that person’s advice.
The Bible teaches us that such a person brings poverty to themself and brings shame to their life.
Believers must not get caught up in confessing Jesus and His promises but disdain the people He sends to help them in our walk.
God brings His servants to help us when we believe in Him and trust in Him. We must be careful who we are rejecting.
We might turn away and disdain God and His help towards us because of pride and false humility.
But those who have a heart of humility to receive correction will be honoured.
When God gives the recognition of the honour, no man, no institution or government can take it away.
Every teachable person moves from making mistakes in life to achieving their goals.
Every person who refuses instructions will go around in circles, making the same mistakes again and again, blaming every person and system they can find.
We must learn to receive corrections with gladness so that we can grow from glory to glory and from strength to strength.
Let us value correction as gold because that is what correction is meant to do. Correction brings out the gold that is within us and brings honour to our lives.
