“I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When the time came for the Israelites to meet God at the mountain, they refused to go but told Moses to go on his own.

Filled with pride, self-centredness and ungratefulness towards God who longed for them to come into relationship with Him.

They did not know what was right and wrong for until then, there was no law given.

First time, the law was given when Moses came down from that mountain.

It exposed all the sins that the Israelites were committing. It brought to sin to life in their understanding.

The Law was given to expose sin and to bring judgment that without a Saviour, all is going to be condemned for eternity.

If we look at the law, it will revive the desires to sin but if we look at Christ and His works, it will revive the desire to live holy.

The Law shows us what we cannot be but Christ shows us who we already are in Him.

The law shows us what we don’t have but Christ shows us what we have received in Him.

The law was God’s standard that no one can fulfil it until God Himself came through Christ and fulfilled it for all mankind.

Now we no longer live under law but under grace, under the work of Christ and built on the foundation Jesus laid for us.

What we focus on will revive its power. If we focus on what we cannot achieve, then we will not achieve it. That’s what the law does.

Therefore, we are all called to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Let us keep our eyes, mind and heart fixed on Christ, live in Him, move in Him and have our being in Him.

Blessings
